Possum Removal Laws in NSW
Possums are protected wildlife under the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016. Under this legislation, it is illegal to trap, kill, harm, or relocate a possum without an NPWS licence. Relocating a possum more than 150 metres from its capture site is specifically prohibited — possums are highly territorial and releasing them in a new area is effectively a death sentence. All our technicians hold current NPWS Wildlife Licences, and every trap placement is documented and reported to NPWS as required.

NSW law requires possums to be released no more than 150 metres from their capture point, at dusk, near something they can immediately climb.
